Guidelines for Authors: Upholding High Standards of Publication Ethics
The Journal of Animal Reports is committed to promoting integrity, transparency, and ethical practices in scholarly publishing. As an author, you play a vital role in maintaining these standards. Below are the guidelines to ensure your submission aligns with the highest ethical principles:
- General Ethical Principles
- Originality:
- Submit only original work that has not been published elsewhere or is under consideration by another journal.
- Properly cite and acknowledge all sources used in your research to avoid plagiarism.
- Authorship:
- Include only individuals who have made significant contributions to the research as authors. The authorship should follow the CRediT (Contributor Roles Taxonomy). The CRediT statements should be provided during the submission process and will appear above the acknowledgment section of the published paper, including authors name(s) and roles: Conceptualization, Methodology, Software, Validation, Formal analysis, Investigation, Resources, Data Curation, Writing - Original Draft, Writing - Review & Editing, Visualization, Supervision, Project administration, Funding acquisition.

- Ensure that all authors have approved the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission.
- Transparency:
- Disclose any potential conflicts of interest (e.g., financial, personal, or professional relationships) that could influence the research or its interpretation.
- Clearly state the funding sources for your research, if applicable.
- Research Integrity
- Data Accuracy and Reproducibility:
- Ensure that all data presented in the manuscript is accurate, complete, and reproducible.
- Retain raw data for at least five years after publication and be prepared to share it if requested.
- Ethical Approval and Consent:
- For studies involving human or animal subjects, provide evidence of ethical approval from an institutional review board (IRB) or ethics committee.
- Include a statement confirming that informed consent was obtained from human participants, where applicable.
- Avoiding Misconduct:
- Do not fabricate, falsify, or manipulate data.
- Do not engage in unethical practices such as duplicate publication, data slicing, or salami publishing.
Submission declaration
When authors submit an article to an Elsevier journal it is implied that:

- the manuscript has been prepared in accordance with the ethical guidelines for publication in animal science research, as outlined by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the specific ethical standards of Animal reports.
- All authors have made substantial contributions to the research and manuscript preparation, and no individuals who meet the criteria for authorship have been excluded.
- The manuscript is original, has not been published previously, and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
- Any potential conflicts of interest have been disclosed in the manuscript.
- Proper acknowledgment has been given to all sources of data, funding, and intellectual property used in this study.
- Any overlapping content (e.g., from conference presentations or preprints) has been clearly disclosed in the cover letter and manuscript.
- Raw data and supporting materials are available upon request to ensure transparency and reproducibility.
- The manuscript has been thoroughly checked for plagiarism, and no instances of plagiarism, data falsification, or research misconduct.
- The manuscript has been professionally edited to ensure clarity, accuracy, and adherence to high standards of English language proficiency.

- All authors are aware of this submission and agree to its content.
3. Writing and Submission Guidelines

- Post-Publication Responsibilities
- Corrections and Retractions:
- Notify the journal immediately if you discover errors in your published work.
- Cooperate with the editorial team to issue corrections or retractions as needed.
- Sharing Research:
- Promote your published work responsibly, ensuring that any public statements about the research are accurate and supported by the data.
- Consequences of Ethical Violations
- Investigation of Misconduct:
- The journal will investigate any allegations of ethical violations, such as plagiarism, data fabrication, or authorship disputes, in accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidelines.
- Sanctions:
- Authors found to have violated ethical standards may face sanctions, including retraction of the manuscript, bans from future submissions, and notification of their institution.
